We went there twice seeking a reservation as we stayed nearby the restaurants, we have asked for table for two but the guy was so kind but could not understand French or English, he was kind enough to ask the hostess to see us, but twice we were told tables all booked which we fairly understood give...n the high tourist season in Japan during April. our friends in NYC had tried there and we were quite sure it was not a member only restaurant, but the very arrogant hostess said to us, Members Only, and refused to take our names for wait list for alternative seating for the following week! This was dishonest and appalling, we have been to top restaurants I.e. Ishikawa Sushi Tokyo, Kitcho Araishiyama or Kikunoi and never death this level of arrogance and dishonesty!!

The restaurant is located in the Gion district, where most of the geisha are living, from the outside it looks like a japanese restaurant. こちらは、グルメな方にご紹介頂き訪問致しました。京都は特に一見さんに対してはいい印象をお店の方々が持たないだろうと思っていましたが、細部にわたるサービスがきめ細やかで、食事を楽しませて頂きました。 何よりも、生まれて初めて、食材の味を堪能できるお店に出会えたのがこちらのお店です。旬を大事にする心を身を以て体験させて頂き、料理の一品一品、一口、一口を味わいながら食べました。 中々で時間が取れず、京都に行く機会がありませんが、行けるものなら月に一度、行きたいです。 あまりにも料理に夢中になり、写真を撮り忘れてしまいました。 The gourmet person whom my mother kno...ws introduced this restraint to visit. This restaurant coached me the spirit of Kyoto mind, the seasonal food importance, the way to show/ taste the best part of every ingredients and hospitality. I'm so sad I cannot take enough time to visit this restaurant. I wish I could go every month... I forgot to take pictures because I really focused to see the plates and to enjoy meal. I had never enjoyed dishes in my life. It was the incredible experience.

Tucked away in the streets of Gion, this restaurant is a gem. Clientele is almost exclusively Japanese but the staff speak a little bit of English so ordering was easy enough. The caprese salad and antipasti were superb; fresh and full of flavor. Main courses (duck, beef) were equally impressive. T...here's a good selection of Italian wines, with a tasting option if you choose. Service was impeccable - discrete and efficient, but friendly with it. One of the best Italian meals I've had in years. Outstanding.
