The food was really good but the service was really rude and not friendly at all towards foreigners. It seemed like the staff was really annoyed at our family because we could speak the language. They kept rolling their eyes every time we would ask a question. I would not recommend at all! There are... plenty of restaurants that are delicious and super friendly, specifically to foreigners.

Absolutely unreal food! The selection is amazing and the quality and taste is supreme. All the food is cooked fresh in front of you and the chef is so lovely. It was so good we went back the next night for more! Amazing value for money as well. Cannot recommend highly enough! Very popular and if y...ou haven’t booked there can be a little wait time but can assure it’s worth the wait! Best meal we’ve had so far.

It was a hot steamy night in Kyoto & the kids had Udon for dinner, so it was time for Yakitori! I found Yakitori Daikichi, a short walk from the hotel. It came highly recommended by Aiko at Hot Shot. How could I not try it? Yakitori (焼き鳥) are grilled chicken skewers made from bite sized pieces of me...at from all different parts of the chicken (breasts, thighs, skin, liver & other innards), made to order & cooked over charcoal & enjoyed with a glass of beer. We arrived we poked our heads, it was packed! We were told to leave by the Chef’s wife but decided to wait. I wasn’t going anywhere. I am unrelenting in my pursuit of great food & won’t be denied. An hour later 4 spots opened up at the bar & 2 ice cold beers later the food started coming out. It was so delicious! The owner & chef, Hiroyoshi Matsuoka, was super cool & was happy to talk when things calmed down. He had lots of great recommendations. I ordered most of the menu & wished I could have ordered more. The food & beer was amazing! 6 beers later the night got fun. I love Yakitori & Kyoto, I can’t wait to go back!

Tiny little place with 8 seats at the bar and a booth around the corner. Chef was charming and cheerful while working at 100% to make our yakitori from scratch. Food was delicious, smoky and juicy. Dinner for my family of four was less than 6500 JPY and well worth it for the meal and the experience.... Probably the best meal we’ve had in Japan so far.
