“Decent enough for dinner”
We were staying in a hotel in this street for 4 nights, and chose to dine local for our last night. This place was always busy whenever we walked past. The menu had enough variety, but the food was just average. Nothing wrong with our meals but nothing exciting or delicious about them either. We als...o asked to change our table after we were surrounded by other smokers. As much as I love Japan, it still amazes me that smoking is allowed inside restaurants.

“Ridiculous attitude of the manager”
An appalling encounter of the lack of Japanese courtesy. The waiter promised a 10% of the bill due to a big group order. We ordered more food due to that. When I settled the bill with the manager and explained that the waiter gave 10% discount, he just glared at me and asked why! After numerous... explanation, not only did he not apologised for the miscommunication, he just glared and asked why again and again. An absolutely horrendous service with a most mediocre food.

“Nice food, super busy”
Decent food in the middle of a great neighborhood for photos. They serve a good mix of the essential Osaka foods, but their hook is that you can order giant portions. Best to come during the afternoon when the place tends to be pretty empty. At night they get can super busy, sometimes they don't eve...n do a wait list.

“Just for the kushikatsu experience”
We were looking for someplace in Shinsekai to have lunch after our trip to nearby Tennoji zoo. We ended up at one of the Yokozuna Kushikatsu branches (there are 3 right across each other) because we haven't tried kushikatsu yet on our trip. There wasn't any other customer aside from us. Apparently..., most of their customers come in the evening. The food was just ok. The kids quickly got over the novelty of dipping food on skewers in the sauce. Maybe when they are older and have drinking buddies, they'll appreciate it more.

“Late Night hanging place”
This Yokozuna skewers restaurant in the corner of Shinsekai is very crowded all night long. It opened 24 hours and a place for people to get drinks or late night food / drinks. They serve osaka signature foods (osaka meibutsu) like okonomiyaki, takoyaki, omelet rice, etc. wide varieties of skewers a...ll very tasty. The ramen also good and cheap. Few options of chankonabe can be ordered as well. Really enjoy our dinner and sake.
