“Hotel Nikko Nara Breakfast Buffet during COVID”
This is how you run a buffet during COVID pandemic protocol. As you walk in, your temperature is checked. You are given a plastic bag for your face mask. You are walked to your table. While this is a buffet, the main is a premade box. Inside, grilled fish, cod roe, and other things to compli...ment the fish. Then you have the regular buffet. However, you cannot approach the buffet without first wearing a mask and plastic gloves. You cannot touch anything with your hands. Due to Japan's closed border, there are no foreign tourists. The meal is completely Japanese. There is nothing Western about this. There is no English signage. And looking around, I was probably the only foreigner there. Therefore, no bread station, no egg station, no bacon, or breakfast meats. They had chawanmushi, two types of miso soup, different pickled vegetables, rice with natto (fermented soybeans) - it was very, very traditional Japanese. My wife, as a Japanese, really enjoyed the meal. There was ample to eat, it was tasty but I kind of missed my bacon and eggs. I also realize the hotel was catering to their hotel guest profiles. No complaints whatsoever. I appreciate their efforts to maintain a buffet despite this pandemic. Full credit is given for the efforts of the restaurant.

“Good tasting miso soup that was not too salty”
Although this restaurant does not have the nice garden view that the Hotel Nikko Narita has, it was nice to be able to eat some hot Japanese food and not have to eat cold food that I bought from the grocery store for breakfast.

“Breakfast buffet with lovely selection of western and Japanese foods!”
Excellent breakfast buffet. Made sure we enjoyed it every day! Loved my self-serve latte ... or I could've selected cappuccino, espresso. On the western buffet were scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, cereal, yogurt and more. On the Japanese buffet were salmon, mackerel, rice, breakfast rice, porridge, ...an incredible local miso soup made with sake, various pickles and a lovely persimmon leaf wrapped sushi. Beverages included grapefruit juice, orange juice, milk, water, green tea, coffee. The chef-made items inter-changed daily between a cheese omlette and french toast (regular and matcha.) Oh, and a separate area of fresh fruit and pastries!

Thank goodness - a European buffet which really IS European! Highly recommended for both choice and quality!

“nice buffett”
the only disadvantage, all the restaurant facilities at nikko Nara close much too ealrly in afternoon after lunch and to early in the night. There are no bar or after dinner facilities.
