very good & they took care of everything down to the tiniest details…. i really enjoyed the food and since i don’t eat eggplant they substituted it w an extra shrimp

Truly such a great meal in Kyoto! It was a tempura Omakase experience and the first of its kind for me and I would 100% go back. The place was really beautiful and good for couples , friends or even a family. Super nice to foreigners also which is a plus in Japan as you never know! Will recommend to... our friends for sure!

This tucked-away treasure would have two Michelin stars, easily, if a reviewer ever stopped by. We received the most extraordinary service and cuisine from Ooba-san and his colleagues, all in an immaculate room looking onto a small gem of a garden. The first thing you see is the counter, the length ...of which is a single piece of solid wood from a 300-year-old tree. Every other detail is similarly thoughtful, from the local porcelain to the hinoki-infused towels. And the food – we had a stunning series of small dishes even before the tempura courses began, all explained in detail by the excellent general manager. The tempura itself was beyond anything any of us had eaten before, incredibly light, with ingredients at the peak of their season and freshness. The pillowy eggplant and the meaty shiitake will stay with me forever. The chefs topped it off with a dessert that could have been served at a temple of haute cuisine in Paris... but I won't spoil it. Highest possible recommendation.

Stellar. Why is this not on the Michelin list?! Beautiful restaurant with attentive staff but the star was the food. Beautiful light tempura. A must in Kyoto! Maybe my favorite meal in Kyoto or Tokyo so far.
