“Tebasaki Heaven!”
This little izakaya is right by the exit of Nagoya station, near the shinkansen terminal. Their tebasaki or spicy chicken wings are excellent and paired with a a glass of cold nama beer makes for a great pre-dinner appetiser. Lots of small plates of Nagoya's famous dishes but the tebasaki is the w...inner! While english is hardly spoken, you can look at the picture menu and point to what you want. Service is smiling and quick.

“Problematic If You Don't Speak Japanese”
Three appetizer-sized dishes and two beers ended up costing nearly JPY 4,000, so buyer beware. There's no English menu, but the staff did its best to communicate with us. We found the food tasty, but were surprised by the small serving sizes. You are compelled to order drinks, which we took to be th...e equivalent of a cover charge, so we were gobsmacked by the real cover charge of about JPY 400 each, plus tax, added onto our bill. The atmosphere was lively, which is what attracted us in the first place, but knowing what we know now we would steer clear.
