旬味和菜 瀬戸内

I very rarely write a review which shows this was something special. We were trying to find a restaurant that would suit our groups dietary requirements as 1 of is a pescatarian, 1 doesn’t eat fish and 1 of the remaining 3 was a bit fussy! After seeing the reviews Setouchi looked a good bet. When we... arrived we were given a separate traditional Japanese dining room which was lovely, however after we had our first drinks and ordered our food unfortunately due to aging knees and backs we asked if we could be moved to the other part of the restaurant with tables and chairs which is what happened. I wish I had been up to eating our food in traditional Japanese style. When the food came out you could see that it had been lovingly prepared by the mother (80) and son (50) team. Between us we had nearly everything on the menu and it all tasted delicious. I can’t recommend this small family run restaurant enough.

Hidden in the back streets of Fujiyoshida is this family run small restaurant. Wow the food was incredible. Make you try the pork hot pot which is cooked in front of you.

If you go to one place for dinner in Fujishoyida, let it be Setouchi. The food was incredible. Definitely get the hotpot and the sashimi is a must too. So fresh and beautifully cut. The restaurant setting is really lovely too. Its interiors and welcoming atmosphere make you feel totally at home. W...e were surrounded by locals and didn’t feel out of place at all. The experience was made all the better thanks to a mother and son duo with such kindness and hospitality. The male owner taught us lots of Japanese (and we exchanged some English phrases too) and because we were celebrating our honeymoon they gave us free plum wine and a handcrafted pencil case. Such a lovely gift and something to remember our fantastic evening. We couldn’t have asked for a better meal. Thank you so much.

Setouchi is a perfect mom&pop restaurant that feels like you’re eating homemade food at your Japanese relatives - funny Japanese tv on, delicious homemade grilled fish, deep fried mackerel/squid, grilled pork and veggies, and really friendly service. It’s nestled off the main road, but has a welcomi...ng feel to it when you enter. One of the best things about traditional Japanese dining is the “teishoku” (set meals with many different dishes), and Hisashi and Masako put so much love and flavor in their sets! Highly recommend the yakiniku teishoku! Best part about teishoku is it’s a lot for a great price of $10 USD. When you’re in the Fuji Yoshida area, and want some great Japanese home cooking for a very reasonable price, check out Hisashi and Masako at Setouchi!
