座・いっく

This is one of those small places into which you tentatively stick your head and wonder what will happen. Well, it was well worth it. The service was friendly and welcoming and the food fresh and flavoursome. The chef (owner??) speaks enough English to make sure you are comfortable but there is also... an English menu from which you can chose. We were also given a "daily specials" menu in English. We had a lovely appetizer (free of charge) then chose shrimp sashimi (daily special), grilled yellow tail (daily special), charcoal cooked scallops and ... a green salad. All the seafood was extremely fresh and the presentation of the food very nice. There were lots of other things we wanted to try (including meat dishes) but ... maybe next time. We sat at the bar but there are a couple of tables (with chairs) and also a number of tatami rooms. Would definitely recommend The-Ikku for an authentic local experience.
