Went to this restaurant on the basis of a recommendation from our travel agent and reading a previous review and weren’t disappointed. Although spoken English was limited the chef and his staff made every effort to engage with us and used a portable translator and a pre- prepared sheet of questions ...to have lots of conversation with us both - about the food, our travels and his sumo wrestler son! We ordered a 10 course Japanese style meal from an English translated menu and enjoyed some excellent food - the sashimi, the stone cooked Wagyu beef, the fried fish and the duck were particular favourites and everything was beautifully presented. The chef’s favourite colour is yellow and yellow is much in evidence.... the other staff wear different coloured chefs outfits - apparently “the harder they work the more embarrassing a colour they have to wear!” Several kimono clad ladies helped serve including the chefs wife who also engaged is in delightful conversation. I can thoroughly recommend this as somewhere to have an all round fun evening! Not easy to find - our taxi took us straight there but recommend following previous English review for directions if on foot!

This is possibly the first English review of this restaurant It is hard to find but it is on the road alongside the river and if you walk from the main bridge along the river you will reach the restaurant before the next bridge Outside is a sign with a blue chefs headbon it They speak relatively lit...tle English but have a very good illustrated english menu We sat at the bar and watched the meal being prepared We I ordered the 6 course meal and it was absolutely excellent and the best meal of 16 in japan It featured Japanese beef in 4 of the courses in different formats that was fantastic quality and value The cost of the meal for 2 including a bottle of french wine was 17000 yet The staff were so friendly and they even gave us an umbrella when we left as it was raining I have over 100 reviews from different countries and this would be high on the list It is not grand and is actually very simple but the food is first rate
