自然派ワインイタリア食堂 Uva－Uva

We fancied Italian food so decided to try Uva Uva. The menu was all in Japanese so with a mixture of English Italian and French and some google translate we kind of communicated. The two ladies were lovely and spent quite a time with us before ordering. We still weren’t sure exactly what we were get...ting but it tasted great if not exactly what we imagined. It was slightly more expensive than we thought but a great experience.

I love Travel ! This is the kind of place that creates Magical Memories ... The Chef has a true artisans touch - the dishes are hearty and light - using only the best seasonal offerings - with an Italian touch that comes from the soul - without doubt some of the best food I’ve eaten anywhere... ...The lovely lady who both runs front of house & personally selects the incredible wines list, a who’s who from the world of “Natural” wine ... it’s a tribute to her passion that the walls are adorned with pictures of her visiting the wine makers in Italy... We had a bunch of dishes served family style with sharing plates .... The blue fin tuna served sashimi style on a bed of freshly made pesto, breaded squid stuffed with roe & tremendously tender Octopus where all a knockout! Paired with sumptuous reds & robust Orange wines ... a treat ! If you love food & wine - you’ll love Uva Uva. I hope you have as good a time here as we had. Cheers 🍷

My family was on one of those tours where you're shuttled to a new city every few days, with activities scheduled morning to evening, and the tour guides keep you in the well-trodden areas. One night, after the day's scheduled activities were over, a few of us ventured out for a walk and found ourse...lves in a more sedate neighborhood. This tiny restaurant was tucked away on a nondescript street, its entrance modest and understated -- blink and you'll miss it! Unfortunately, we were only there for dessert, because the inventiveness of the menu was so tempting! Much of the menu puts a subtle, local spin on Italian cuisine. Our desserts were outstanding, however; local kaki (persimmon) in tiramisu, and local, seasonal fruit in a light-as-air cake that was subtly moist. And because the proprietress also happens to be an Italian wine sommelier, the pairings were perfect - lighter on the palate to match the weight of the desserts, subtle acid and mineral notes as a counterpoint to the light sweets, and slight notes of stone fruit. One huge regret is that we had to leave the next day, and therefore couldn't return. On the bright side, I believe the Shinkansen now goes to Kanazawa, which should make Uva-Uva more accessible to more people. It's a dinky place on a quiet street in an obscure neighborhood of a less-traveled town, but oh, so worth the trip.
