“Cancelled Booking”
I made a reservation in this two stars restaurant through his official web page. When you are going to book, automatically , they send you to a web page of a company called “pocket concierge” who manage the bookings of the restaurant. It is a mandatory to pay the full amount of the dinner for makin...g firm the reservation thing that of course I did. (33880 yen’s in my case) 24 hours before the dinner I received a mail from Pocket Concierge communicating that there was something wrong with my reservation because the restaurant it was full that day. They canceled the booking and now I have to wait perhaps until 2 weeks!!! until the refund comes to my account. Please beware when you reserve in this restaurant. What a disaster!

“Top echelon of Kaga-style fine dining”
Locals were impressed at our choice of this ryotei (the owner of a nosebleed expensive ryokan as well as the mistress of our formal tea ceremony in Kanazawa). Perhaps they were more surprised that a foreigner like me with little Japanese had the audacity to make a reservation at a famous ryotei tha...t only advertised and spoke in Japanese(!) Either way, what a great meal! We’ve had good Kaga kaiseki before, but this took it up a notch. Meticulous attention to detail and tradition. Top quality luxury ingredients treated with respect. Balance of flavour and texture. Precision knife work. The micron-thin slices that crushed the bones of the pike eel was laser-like. The flesh was fluffy and succulent - you could not tell you were swallowing bones. The abalone served with its liver was another highlight. Treated with respect and drew out the natural flavour of the ‘mushroom of the sea’. Great meal. At 18000 Yen a head in a private dining room, an absolute steal.

“Traditional Japanese Restaurant of the Top Level”
Based on a Tripadviser search we would never have foundthis extraordinary restaurant. Our guide new the place an the taxi driver said to us oh the famous Suginoi, I know where it is. You need a reservation, we even had to select a menue. After a very warm reception in the traditional house we were l...ed in a vast classy decorated room with a low table and low chairs. We were provided a drink list and a very detailed list of the corses in english and japanese. The service was charming, the food devine, it was our best diner on our long Japan travel. I ad some pictures. This place maybe luxurious in terms of the price, but dining at Suginoi is an adventure for all your senses worth every yen.
