“Turned away”
We had heard good things about this izakaya specialising in fish in Kanazawa, and when we showed up (without a booking) at 7.30 p.m. it looked very inviting. But -- despite some empty places -- we were turned away. We offered to wait or come back later (it closes at midnight) but no good: we were to...ld it was full and it was clear we were unwanted. We have had such a friendly welcome elsewhere in Japan that we could only conclude that foreign guests were unwelcome. To save them the embarrassment in future we suggest you don't try this one. After all, there are plenty of other restaurants on the same street (Kiguramachi).
