Such a special and unique dining experience in this special restaurant close to the Higashi Chaya district. We had our lunch in a private tatami room and we tried their recommended course including sushi, fish and meat, ramen and dessert. Great food, lovely service provided by our smiling waiter Kei...go and definitely excellent value for money. Go to Barrier - you will enjoy it !!!

This was one of the best meals of our trip! Excellent food, very dramatic setting and presentation. Great blend of traditional Japanese cuisine with a modernist twist.

We selected the most expensive menu, and unfortunately, it was the worst meal we had in Japan. The food was bland, and the meat was tough. While the presentation was visually interesting, the overall experience felt like a tourist trap. I would not recommend it.

A rather disappointing experience, even somewhat feeling deceived. I believe dining should prioritize taste first, followed by presentation. If soup is positioned as the main selling point and central theme of the entire meal, it needs to be exceptionally outstanding. In reality, the soups were quit...e bland. Except for the fish dish in the three-course meal where pouring hot soup over it achieved the exact moment when the fish transitions from raw to just cooked, the other dishes served this way had no real culinary justification. The seiza-style seating was extremely cramped - strangers would literally bump into each other.
