We arrived very late on our second to last night in Sendai; 9pm with a 10pm closing time. Now, having worked in the food industry I felt terrible and so did my husband. We profusely apologized but the were incredibly gracious. We were also extremely underdressed (the decision was made last minute) b...ut were treated as if we weren't. The staff was so friendly it really pained me to order because I didn't want to cause them inconvenience. Keeping it simple at the late hour we ordered soup and Sendai beef, the very best of the best on the menu. As novices in the world of Wagyu beef we didn't understand that Sendai beef is not lower than Kobe because the beef served in each area is named after that area. I ordered a white wine, smooth and refreshing and a perfect match somehow to each dish. My husband ordered a dark beer which we both loved. We were served an appetizer of an omelette-quiche hybrid with delicate cuts of fish on top. Amazing. We then had cold consomme which was mild enough to clear our palates for the salad that was topped with a light, onion dressing. As we ate at what I would typically call a bar we gazed into the glass enclosed garden and watched the steady trickle of water down artfully placed wood into a basin beneath. Our chef began preparing our steak in front of us and the memory of the image and the sizzle alone makes my mouth water. We watched the steak, potatoes, and greens were cooked and placed in front of us. Our meat was served with a few flavor enhancers: himalayan pink salt, wasabi, vinegar, and soy sauce. I recommend your first bite of steak be plain to fully understand the texture and quality before you flavor it. My second bite was accompanied by a single garlic chip. Further bites were more adventurous and I can say confidently that my favorite combination was with wasabi and a small bit of soy sauce. The steak was perfection. I ate it too quickly and found myself regretting the pace. It was such a flurry of flavors I barely registered that I had also had the best sweet potatoes in my life. Too soon the steak was finished but we then ordered the raspberry mouse wrapped in a sakura leaf. It was served with rose and green tea and was absolutely divine. A perfect end to the meal and somehow light in flavor and rich at the same time. At exactly closing time we finished our meal and tried to impress our thanks and graciousness upon the staff. I'm not even sure, had I known fluent Japanese, that I could have declared all that I felt toward them. I could only perform the deepest bow I could with many, many thanks and a 'Gochisousama' for good measure. (You should always say that) We were seen to the street in front of the restaurant with smiles and a happy farewell. If I don't go back there within five years it's because something terrible must have happened to me.

This is a great little steak restaurant in the heart of sendai. The prices are exactly what you'd expect for the type of restaurant. Their website has an English menu, so you can plan before you get there. English-speaking service was outstanding. Only complaint is that maybe they gave us a litt...le too much special attention, but that's nothing. If you have a food picky eater who is more comfortable with steak and potatoes, this place will be a safe choice. My picky friend only had issues with one or two dishes in the course meal. I ate everything and it was great! A high recommend from me.

I was never a beef lover till I have tried the sendai beef in Kojiro restaurant in Sendai.The beef just melted in your mouth.It is not just the food but the ambience and the service and warm gestures from the staff..Very pleasant and memorable dining experience. A must in Sendai...
