We went to Pacho in Hiroshoma station for a quick dinner as it was already 21h15 and the restaurant was closing at 22h00. We noticed the place the day before and were looking forward to a delicious Wagyu steak at an affordable price of 2980 Yen excl. tax. The waitress was very kind and guided us to ...our table. We ordered 1 portion of 300 gr. Wagyu beef with as side dishes a Salad and French fries. We also ordered a beer and a coke. Although Wagyu beef is known for its nice flavour and tenderness, this steak was one of the toughest we ever had. I couldn't even cut it with the steak knife provided. We complained to the waitress asking her whether this was genuine Wagyu beef, she went to the kitchen and confirmed it was. We could not believe it as we had eaten Wagyu beef before in Kyoto (at double price) and the meat was so tender. The waitress apologised without any compensation proposed. We paid the bill and left the place. We were so disappointed.

We had an hour before our train and we found Pacho. Quick, excellent staff very kind as well, they found for us a table for 5. All of us choose Kobe steak medium served with french fries, rice, some tipical Japanese soup! Excellent!!

The food was wonderful but the dining experience by the service staff has left a very bad impression of Japanese. My family of 6 had entered the restaurant for an early lunch at around 1120h on 12 Nov 2019. The restaurant was relatively empty but we were made to sit near the entrance at 3 separate r...ound tables put together when there were less than 6 other diners or drinkers within the restaurant. For drinking, i can understand sitting at round tables but certainly not for dining. Besides the seating, we each had bags as we were clearly tourists. The baskets for putting our bags were not made available and the service staff ignored us to refill water when they were clearly refilling for Japanese further inside the restaurant. These 3 actions clearly showed that non-locals were not welcome at this restaurant.

I was a little nervous about this place because it looked touristy. But nearby places were small and crowded, so we gave it a try. I ordered the beef and fries, and it was excellent. My spouse had a seafood dish that she enjoyed. We both had glasses of wine. Total bill was only about $45. Tip: Not ...much English spoken, so easier to point to what you want on the menu.
