“Great sushi stop after Toyosu Market”

5
Reviewed 14/Jul/2026

Visited this small Edo-style sushi counter with my son after a morning at Toyosu Fish Market. We got in easily with no wait, which was a nice surprise given how busy the area gets. The chefs work right at the counter in front of you. We had a mixed sushi selection, including whale, which was a firs...t for both of us and went down really well. The rice has that traditional akazu red vinegar touch, giving it more depth than standard sushi rice, and everything was fresh and well made. Staff were friendly despite limited English, and there’s an English menu to help with ordering. A really nice, memorable stop on our Tokyo trip together.

“Not bad”

We were lucky to get in when they opened. There was a long line after us. But the line goes pretty quick. It's just a small sushi bar, people eat and leave pretty quickly. At first I didn't want to eat at the market because I was afraid the prices would be a rip-off because of tourists (I had a USD2...2 wagyu beef skewer that was way overpriced my first time) but it was pretty decent. I had the 11 item omakase set and it was pretty good. Other family members had the 10 item one and it was a lot cheaper, and then we had some a la carte. I would say all the sushi we had was pretty good. One thing that defines good nigiri for me is that you don't notice the rice and it was this way here. I also had some uni here but it was only ok. I only say that because I've tasted the best uni in the world, and that's uni that was just cut out and nothing can compare to that. Anyway, it was a pretty decent meal, but I don't know if I'd line up an hour for it, so come at non-busy hours, if that's possible.

“Small cosy friendly with the freshest of sushi - worth a visit”

Small very local sushi restaurant but English speaking friendly (enough to get by, menus in English etc). Sushi masters cook in front of the bar with all types of sushi on offer. Not super cheap but clearly extremely well made and tasty. Set platters available as well as a la Carte. Came to about ¥1...1,000 for 4 inc drinks.

Great fun and value for your yen. Sit at the bar or tables and watch the skilled sushi chefs do their stuff with the ultra fresh produce. Pick what you want by the individual piece or try a set plate. Would return again for sure.
