“Dissapointed”

We were really looking forward to this place however ultimately left disappointed. We were two couples that went together for a meal out. We booked at table as we had been the night before and couldn't get a space. The meal sizes were very small so would work out very expensive if you ate a full mea...l. The Sake was nice however they do a tasting board that is only available on Tuesdays that would have been good. One couples meal came out and then there was a good 30 minute wait before the others. It was a nice looking restaurant however given the incredibly small meal size, the fact that one couple had finished their meal before the others were served and it ending up being quite an expensive meal where we all went to 7/11 after to buy sushi to fill us left us overall disappointed.

“Be educated about Sake.”

A British expat, Nicholas C. who is an expert on Sake provides the range of Sake for this small restaurant. If you happen to be there when he in the restaurant, he will give you a basic education on this form of drink if you are a novice. The food was good but I wouldn't be going to this place for t...he food. The sushimi however was excellent. The decor is smart and modern. The restaurant is a little more spacious than the usual "hole in the wall" style of small establishment. Smoking was taking place in the restaurant the night we dined; a negative in my view.

We were drifting around the Shibuya backstreets only a couple of hundred metres from our hotel, and spotted what looked like a very stylish modern upmarket restaurant..with a cosy looking tiny mezzanine level right against the full height windows. We were perusing the menu and one of the staff came ...out and started chatting to our Japanese-speaking daughter...we didn't feel pressured at all by this, but decided to go in as it looked so nice...stripped back bare concrete and beautifully done modern joinery...very elegant. We ordered a variety of small dishes between us, and some interesting drinks too - plum wine with matcha flavouring, Yuzu...and after much deliberation, some Sake...they have loads to choose from, and seem very knowledgeable on the styles and nuances. All very good , apart from the meat in one of the soups being a bit gristly and really more than we could cope with, but other than than an excellent experience.
