“Very small but excellent food”
Very small but excellent food with an English menu. Pretty pricey as it cost us nearly £40 each for the set menu plus 2 beers, but it’s central Tokyo so you expect that. The food is cooked in front of you and the staff are very helpful, telling you what it is and which salt to use! It doesn’t look m...uch but well worth the visit. We had a brilliant evening.

“A Relative Disappointment”
Seeing Tempura Abe rated fairly highly in reviews and links to the Michelin guide (somewhere I thought it had a star), we made reservations well in advance. Not necessary. Will not return. The seven of us, in this 20-seat basement restaurant all had the Y3,000 prefix lunch, and the food was fine, bu...t not transcendent, as I had hoped (perhaps my fault), and not even memorable. My Japanese language is rather good, and my experience in the country long, but I found the shop people kind of surely (yes, we had a lot of luggage, but called the day before to see if it was ok to store). This was the first restaurant I went to that when I said "Gochi Sosama Deshita (It was a great feast)", they did not reply. Speaks volumes in a Japanese context. Not going back.

“Fantastic tempura at Tempura Abe”
The tempura at Tempura Abe is fantastic and a new reference for me. The set menue also included excellent sashimi and misu soup. Very friendly service and dialogue with the chefs. Book in advance as the place is very small. Highly recommended!

“What a pleasure!”
The lite crispy batter of a good tempura is something I always enjoy. Needless to say that 50 plus years ago I started eating tempura in small restaurants like Tempura Abe Ginza Honten. Something about ordering a tempura set and just enjoying a good meal. You will not go wrong visiting this resta...urant and enjoying a great meal. We went early without a reservation. There is limited seating so either call for a reservation or go early.

“Would come back to try a different set”
Good food but a little hard to find. This tiny restaurant was tucked away in an alley-like street and you need to use the elevator down. The service was super friendly and they have an English menu available. They offer several types of set courses. It was good and satisfied my craving. I would defi...nitely come back, but would get the tempura sauce on the side so that way I can taste the crunchiness better. [TIP] They accept credit cards but only for 5000YEN or more.
