“Backpackers NOT A HOTEL”
This is a backpackers not a hotel. A hotel has a reception with people to help. Matsuya Hotel DOES NOT, a hotel has well laid out rooms with some storage, Matsuya Hotel DOES NOT, a hotel has an area to sit and relax, Matsuya Hotel DOES NOT and a hotel is run by professionals, not working holiday gra...duates (who are very nice and capable but appear to have been left to run the place on their own). Hotel prices. Backpacker experience. STAY AWAY!

Fellow travelers, look no further. You have encountered the best value for yen place and you can rest assured there’s no better. From no msg, to fresh ingredients, pleasant service, relaxing music... it’s all included. While some variation in quality exists across cities (eg Kobe had good coffee and... udon soup) don’t let this deter you from trying out this chain. You won’t regret it.
