UMENOHANAMomochi

It took us a while to find this restaurant, since it's located in a residential area, although not far from the Fukuoka Tower. We ordered a 6 course dinner and all dishes had tofu in different styles and preparations. We loved all the concoctions, especially the skewers which are the signature dish.... One has to like tofu otherwise it will be a waste to visit this restaurant. The staff gave us an extended version of the menu in English and would point to the corresponding title when bringing the dishes to our table. They tried to communicate in English as best as they could and we appreciated the effort. The dining style is kaiseki and the service delivers accordingly. We were stuffed by the time we left the restaurant. Prices are on the high range.

I was recommended to try this restaurant by a Japanese friend. This restaurant specialize in tofu. We choose the kazemachigusa (3,020 yen- 12 course( this course has wagyu beef) and umenohana (4,100 yen-15 course ). This is eating tofu to the next level. I had eaten a lot a tofu but never had I expe...rienced tofu in such a way. This is an education in itself. One of the highlight of my trip to Fukuoka. Service is excellent. Our waitress speaks a little English. This is fine dining so it took about 2 hours to finish the course. The restaurant closed at 10pm. Located right behind the residential suite.
