“Super ambiance, quite good food”
A restaurant with an Hawaiian theme. Staff are super attentive and the meals we had were ok. Both main parts (the steaks) were fine but the accompanying vegetables were a bit odd. Having said this, we enjoyed our visit and at GBP50 total it wasn't that expensive.

“Cosy restaurant with good food”
Sam’s is a restaurant by the sea known for its steak and seafood. Reservation is recommended; we were lucky to arrive early enough for dinner to get a seat for 5 adults and a child without reservation. The place quickly filled up within the hour. The interior is dim with sleepy lights so those who p...refer a lighted place may wish to look elsewhere. Servers are cheery and helpful and make you feel welcome. Portions are generous for general Asians (not as large as American sized portions). You shouldn’t - and we didn’t - expect top grade steaks but they were decent enough. Seafood was fresh too. All in all a warm restaurant to spend an evening dining with friends and loved ones.

My wife and went here for the first time and really enjoyed ourselves. The curry soup is awesome that you receive as a free appetizer. We tried the crab and steak combo and the surfers choice (swordfish, mahi-mahi, and red snapper). We both really enjoyed our meal. We will be back again for another ...date night.

“Nice ambiance and average food”
Sam’s by the Sea has been the place to go for many many years and the last time I was here was in 2017. My, how things have changed. Let’s start with the good: nice location, wonderfully decorated with lots of island decor to emphasize that this is supposed to be a Hawaii themed establishment. Than...k goodness the shrimp cocktail is still my favorite thing on the menu and this item has remained the same for many years. The shrimp cocktail definitely adds another star to my rating otherwise I would have rated it a possible two stars. The restaurant is very large and is dimly lit for dinner which provides a relaxing vibe in the dining room. Unfortunately the positive points end there. The food is average at best and it has changed since my last visit in 2017. (Rumor has it that the owner sold it and a corporation now owns it) The once creamy curry soup is now watered down and doesn’t have the same distinct flavor and texture as before. The steak quality has also declined and both people in my group didn’t enjoy their steak and said it had too much gristle and not enough flavor. My seafood platter included crab stuffed red snapper but the snapper had very little flavor and the crab was mushy. It was so much better when I visited in 2017! I would say that the biggest problem now is service. There were only three servers for the entire dining room and it took a long time to get their attention for everything we needed during our meal. Another glaring difference from 2017. So with all of these things combined I will say this: if you want a romantic quiet place to eat then this spot might serve your needs. If you want a delicious dinner with good service, then I would recommend trying another place. This iconic place is changing.
