“one of the most unique japanese culinary experience!”
The food here was high-quality, perfectly seasoned, cooked and presented. The staff was very friend and extremely good in service. The highlights of the food include: Chawan-mushi which is eggs sack of fish, Sashimi slightly grilled on fire from rice-straws one of the best motsu-nabe in the city, ...hot soup with stomach meat. The extra advantage of the restaurant was the nomihodai (all you can drink) including two fantastic japanese sake, I highly recommend kitaya sake cold. Should you visit Fukuoka, this is definitely the place to go!

“Contemporary Japanese”
We had strolled by this restaurant the night before and it had looked pretty buzzing - thirty somethings enjoying their food and wine - so we decided to give it a go. The front of house gently warned us that there was no English menu nor any pictures to guide non-Japanese speakers, but thankfully t...he waiter who took our order was able to accommodate our basic requests. The food is a mix of grilled, fried and other cooked food and many diners were pairing this with wine. (We opted for whisky highballs and plum wine instead). The dishes are beautifully presented and delicious. So if you are looking for a more contemporary twist, give this place a try. Total dinner bill (for two): JPY8,000.

“Interesting and Fun”
We've been to this restaurant twice already and we still enjoyed our meal the second time. The staff were courteous, eager to please and attentive. Service was quite snappy too. We didn't speak English so we had to order the set menu to avoid any further complications but we've always wondered what ...the a la carte menu contained because we saw some interesting grilling going on which was not part of our set. We were informed that the food was traditional but it didn't seem traditional at all ---more like trendy and innovative (might have been a language barrier). The sushi may not have been premium class but it was still decent (although some were chewy --I guess it depends on the catch). The rice at the end of the meal was a runaway favorite, as was the starters. Try getting a spot at the counter where you can watch the grilling ---it may be a little warm for some because of the open fire, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching the kitchen that I didn't mind at all. Nice casual dining with friends on a Friday night.
