“Grilled Eel (Unagi) for lunch”
This restaurant has been in business at the same location for over 100 years. First as a Japanese sweet shop and from about 60 years ago they switched to their current format. The building was rebuilt several years ago. This is a first class restaurant with a top tier level of service and quality... of their cuisine. The menu has a good selection of Unagi and several other dishes. Prices are not cheap but the quality is well worth the cost.

“Amazing traditional experience.”
The service and whole vibe of the place was amazing and a really cool thing to experience. Even though we couldn't understand a word of Japanese, they kept saying all of the polite phrases which was really interesting. The waitresses are all in Kimono with amazing movements and technique. Amazing.

“Lunch Unagi Bowl”
A friend introduced us to this wonderful Unagi restaurant close to Ueno-hirokoji station( Ginza line-G15). Its an unassuming location visited mainly by locals and those who are familiar. The Unagi and rice was succulent and delicious. The sauce and rice blended well. The soup served together with th...e bowl was clear and wonderfully balanced. The pickles was great with the remaining rice. Will have to come back for more. Price is mid to high dependent on how hungry one is!

“Sumptuous meal, incredible service”
Last night in Japan after 5 wonderful weeks and this meal was absolutely the best. The grilled eel on rice was tender and unctuous, the soup was a lovely mushroom broth complement. They also make their own sesame tofu in a sesame sauce that I really wanted to lick the bowl, it was so delicious. T...he sushi set is something I do wish I had tried, it looked incredible, and very moderate in pricing given the quality. The service by discreet and efficient kimono-clad servers was impeccable. My next visit to Tokyo I will run straight there!

“Good place for eel”
I had a nice lunch here after visiting the museums in Ueno Park. Looked for it after seeing it on T.A., was hard to find since there is no English sign outside. I finally got directions from a nearby hotel. Nice atmosphere, friendly service, English-language menu. The eel over rice was very nice.
