“It isn't at all noisy considering its location and the atmosphere isn't bad. Overall, I would say good value for money.”
Most restaurants in Shapo Funabashi annexed to JR Funabashi Station are on the second to fourth floors, but Fukuman-en is on the ground floor by the grocery market area. We had been to their main restaurant in Yokohama China Town, but this was the first time for us to visit their branch restaurant i...n the refurbished Shapo building. I was attracted as I like hot food and they serve Szechwan dishes, but the lunch menus were more traditional Japanese Chinese dishes. I had stir fried green peppers and shredded beef (pronunciation in Japanese ching-jao-rohsuu ) and my wife stir fried egg plant with Ma-po Chinese chili sauce (Mar-bo-nasu). The lunch menu comes with some appetizers and a side dish which in my case was an egg noodle soup. It appears the side dish varies with the main dish. My ching-jao-rohsu was good but not spectacular. I tried a bit of the mar-bo-nasu which was hotter. You need to help yourself for water where you have a selection of berry or citrus flavored water or plain water. The staff were helpful and efficient. The lunch course is 980 yen before tax. It isn't at all noisy considering its location and the atmosphere isn't bad. Overall, I would say good value for money.
