“Hamburger steak”
I found Takuan Botantei on the way back to where we are staying here in Nishi Shinjuku. There are signs in English outside and decided to try the Japanese beef hamburger steak, which is really just a hamburger patty covered in a soy/wasabi sauce. With soup and a very small salad it came to 2,500 Ye...n. Compared to other meals during this trip, it could only be rated average.

“Eat where the locals eat!”
Unpretentious venue with warm Japanese hospitality and excellent food, friendly service & accommodating team who catered to several friends who are vegetarians and some other dietary requirements. We had the Sukiyaki and several other dishes, plus sake / sochu that was served in beautiful bottles be...aring the restaurants name in Japanese calligraphy. The owner herself constantly checked in on our dining party. The one thing missing was traditional live Japanese traditional music, which we were told they were not allowed to perform. Don't expect glitzy fine dining or spacious dining areas but I'd rate this One of my favourite restaurants in Tokyo, for the quality of food and hospitality
