Kushiyaki BISTRO Fukumimi Shibuya

My 12 year old son wanted yakitori and we ended up at this little gem! It is a little tough to find, down some steps, with just one sign, but it was so so good! We got several different types of yakitori, broiled mackerel, and a salmon and avocado dish that was on special. The chefs make the yakito...ri in front of you and the whole experience is really fun and lively. Delicious! They waitstaff spoke English to us and they had English menus too- but it truly feels like a locals spot.

Staff were very friendly, a good choice for english-speaking tourists as they are very accommodating. Food was good and had flavor. To me, seems like a pretty dependable location if you don’t mind paying a high price tag (seems to be at least 4000yen per person). If you have teens I would recommend ...this place as it is non-smoking. Reservations are a must. It’s open after 4pm, and the location is easier to find if you find the picture of the entrance on Google Maps.

Overall, this was a decent restaurant. Full disclosure we are not a yakitori aficionado. It's almost like Japanese tapas to us us. The location is below ground and the stairs leading down to it are quite narrow. Inside there is decent enough space and seating at the bar area or there tables. S...taff is friendly and engaging. The atmosphere is actually pretty good. Prices are decent, but a bit high considering the flavor and food quality. They also tack on a service charge which is a bit rare for Tokyo. It charges about $2.20 USD. My biggest issue was the actual skewers didn't really have too much flavor to them, really could have used more salt and ideally some type of sauce. I know this isn't an accepted yakitori dining experience. I also thought the beer price was a bit high.

The other reviews are very accurate. This place has a great vibe with happy enthusiastic staff and the food is delicious. It is a Smokey basement from the cooking bbq/brie and has heaps of atmosphere. Not easy to find as others have said. We got to the general area and asked a local who very k...indly escorted us to the entrance. Please see the attached photos. Food is very cheap, beers $10 for the big one. Fabulous experience and highly recommended.

This is a small restaurant that is not easy to find. Inside the food was amazing and the atmosphere fantastic. Will definitely be back if in Tokyo again.
