“Delightfully spooky”

Reviewed 30/Aug/2024

We were very hesitant about going after we read some of the reviews on here… However, we were absolutely delighted with how our experience was. The atmosphere was beautifully spooky and the food was themed wonderfully. Our vampire gave us an English menu(which we would have been fine with a Japanes...e one because we had Google translate), took us to our table and we got to enjoy the experience. Even trying to be moody and dark, all of the servers were very nice. The food was tasty and we enjoyed the night. So happy we went with our gut instinct and went to dinner there.

“A dream for Vampire lovers ! Don't let the other reviews scare you away.”

I will admit I almost allowed the other reviews here to scare me away. I was so afraid I wouldn't enjoy it and that the staff was going to be rude. I'm so thankful I didn't! Vampire Cafe was the most decorative cafe I had been to in Japan and I went to several while being there. I've always loved ev...erything about the Vampire aesthetic and this one did not disappoint. You first enter from an elevator with a red curtain covering where you were going to go. You're greeted by the Vampire's servants and may even see the Vampire walking around all majestic like ~ We sat at a corner booth with a curtain. Everything was dark, illuminated by dimly lit and red lights (Not sure if they were red or that was how everything looked). I pre-reserved the food and knew what we were going to eat. You can easily book it on Tablecheck and it tells you what set meal you're reserving plus descriptions were easy to translate when there and figure out on the big menu they give you. Drinks were pretty good and the food was delicious. It's a fairly standard meal like cheese pizza, chicken and pasta -- so nothing really fancy or different. Their desserts though were super yummy and how they presented them was very unique ! Everything fit with the theme. They put a blood red dressing on your salad and black ink in your pasta. The whole meal was super filling ( we're talking 6 served dishes ). It was super cool how the "Vampire Lord" walks around and interacts with guests. Of course if you know Japanese he interacts more ( as we noticed with other guests ), but he still made an appearance and was kind whenever we did ask for anything such as water. They were also quick with the food. One of the waitresses we had was super sweet and kind. Anytime we needed to talk more we'd use a google translate and she would do the same. We wanted a photo with the Vampire and she told us it was 500 yen + plus we got a sticker of him when getting a photo. Whether or not this was standard, we didn't mind ! I tried to learn a little Japanese before coming, but I only know your typical phrases -- nothing that can hold a conversation. We're coming into their country where English is not their first language so of course we shouldn't expect a place to know the language. It shouldn't be downrated because it's a place that speaks Japanese in Japan. Boggles my mind !! Despite the barriers, we had a wonderful time. My friends were skeptical about me wanting to come here at first and even they were amazed by the interior and the aesthetic of the whole place from the dining set, to the coffin to the chandelier. I was in heaven just being here ! When we left there was a male servant that bowed to us and kept bowed until our elevator closed. The cast was committed and respectful. It was definitely an experience I'll always remember ~

“Don’t go - Unless you speak Japanese”

As other reviews state, small and well decorated. Costumes are good. Food was nice, we needed to use google translate to know what we were eating. The staff don’t speak any English, and whilst they put on a performance for each dish for the locals, we just got the plates with not even an explanation.... We were in & out in just over an hour. I personally didn’t think it was worth going, as felt we didn’t get the show we paid for & everyone else got. This is definitely not a location for tourists,

“Made us feel not-welcomed :( has potential for better...”

(In Finnish below, SUOMEKSI ALLA) I so much would like to give this place a higher ranking but I can't... so sad. The idea is excellent! The venue is really small but quite ok. The staff's outfits were quite good, one excellent. We did not get to choose alacarte, it was a fixed menu. They did not... have an english menu, so did not know everything we ate. Not a problem for us, but huge problem for those who have allergies. Food was average, but the little pizza was excellent! Food looked amazing, the plates were decorated nicely. Drinks were ok, but expensive af. The hole thing was quite pricey. I was a quite worried of the real fire, because no fire steps etc on site and it was the seventh floor. All this could have been quite ok and my ranking would be better if the staff would have been nicer. It was quite awfull.... we felt like not wanted there at all!!! It took time to do te reservation online (the site was not good), the taxi ride there was long, the place was not easy to find and it was expensive. And to top this all we did not feel welcomed!!! Left a very bad taste to us for a long long time!!!! And I would not recommend this to anyone, thanks to that. In my opinion, this is sad because it could have been our best night In Tokyo, if the staff had been different, because the idea of the restaurant is good and there are not that many team restaurants left after the covid. So please, fix the issue... In Finnish/SUOMEKSI Melko kallis paikka. Tokio on siihen hieman liian kaukana...sääli.
