VAMPIRE CAFE

Vampire Cafe, Ginza is a truly unique experience. If you want to walk into the world of vampire cosplay, this is your location to do it in Tokyo. From the moment you walk into this café, which is really not just a café, it's a restaurant, you are submerged in vampire culture. If you're into the dark... side, this is your place to go. The staff here are all in full vampire garb. I often wonder, do they come to work this way? Or, do they have to make themselves up once they are here? Secondarily, do they go home like this after work? I don't know? But, again, it is a truly full-blown, cosplay, vampire experience. Plus, they are all super nice! In terms of what they offer, they offer a really nice selection of food and drink. One of the main things you really need to know about this place is it's not like a bar. You can't go in there, and just order a drink or something like that. You have to order a dish, in association with a drink. I get it. That's their rules! I can imagine a lot of customers come in to the place just expecting to partake of the atmosphere, kickback, and lounge. But, this place isn't really designed to offer that type of experience. It's a functioning restaurant, so they want people in, eat their meal, and then out. The way this place is laid out is, it's all very dark vampire themed. When you come into it, the host will seat you at your table, which is most likely a very small area surrounded by red curtains. There is a central dining area for larger groups, if that's how you arrive. But, it's mostly small draped cubicles where you will eat your meal. Throughout your experience, you will hear all kinds of Japanese/vampire orientated chants going on. It's really quite an experience. A lot of fun! I would suggest making a reservation for this business before you arrive, as it is a very popular café. Combine this with the fact that it is fairly small, you really should make a reservation before you arrive. Just FYI. In terms of food: the last time I was there, what we had, is what they suggested, which was their Halloween Special. This, even though it's not yet Halloween. But, overall it was pretty good. If you're looking for exceptional high quality cuisine, it's important to note that this is probably not your restaurant of choice. The food is good. It is well prepared. But, is it high-quality? I can't say that it is. For example, with their Halloween meal, what they offered was, a very basic salad, some risotto, some tiny weenies, some boneless chicken, that they set on fire and cooked at our table, and a few other strange little dishes in the approximate seven-course meal. Tasty? Well, I don't know? Let's just say it was curious. Overall, if you're in Ginza, and you want a truly unique dining experience, this is your place to go. I recommend it for that reason alone. You will remember it.

The food and drinks didn’t quite live up to the ambiance. While everything was presented beautifully and fit the theme, the actual flavors were just okay and felt overpriced for what you got. Service was friendly but a little slow at times.

Honestly, it’s pretty niche. You’ll likely love it or hate it. We thought it was fun. Booths are plush, effort has gone into the theming and the vampires were friendly. Food was okay. Certainly plenty of it and to suit different taste preferences. We didn’t have any problem enjoying it only spe...aking English and were glad we went for afternoon tea.

I had an absolutely wonderful time here, despite my Japanese being poor. I got seated in a plush booth and the lovely staff explained everything to me and helped me order. I expected the food to be mediocre as themed restaurants often are, but this was DELICIOUS and the staff could not have been mor...e attentive. It's just a shame my Japanese isn't great as I couldn't speak with the vampire much, but that's my fault, not theirs.
