“Excellent Seafood & Sake Course Just 2 Minutes from Yokohama Station 🐟🍶”
If you are in Yokohama and want a proper seafood dinner with a great selection of Japanese sake, this place is well worth considering. I visited 三代目魚河岸 青木鮮魚店 鶴屋町店, a popular seafood izakaya in Tsuruya-cho that sources fresh fish from the Yokohama Central Wholesale Market. This time our group booke...d the 7,000 yen course (tax included) with 3 hours of all-you-can-drink, arranged around their grilled tuna collar menu. Considering the quantity and quality, the value felt excellent. The drink plan included a surprisingly good sake lineup, with options ranging from local Kanagawa sake to well-known labels. Highlights of the meal included: • Three kinds of charcoal-grilled appetizers served with a tabletop shichirin grill — especially memorable was the mirin-dried striped jack with rich concentrated flavor. • Three-piece sashimi platter — and amazingly, this was one serving per person. Thick-cut grunt fish, luxurious bluefin tuna, and lightly seared golden eye snapper all stood out. • Salt-grilled sweetfish (ayu) — one whole fish each, delicate enough to enjoy from head to tail. • Breaded pike conger eel with plum sauce, crispy outside and juicy inside. • Simmered conger eel with fried lotus root cake, a perfect pairing for sake. To finish, we had a generously sized soy-marinated bluefin tuna nigiri, followed by soft gyuhi ice cream with chocolate sauce, which ended the course on a refined note. For a relaxed evening near Yokohama Station with quality seafood, good sake, and a satisfying course menu, this was an excellent choice. Definitely a place to remember when looking for seafood around Yokohama. 📍Tsuruya-cho 1-7-7, Kanagawa-ku, Yokohama ☎️045-323-1654

“A Bit More Sophisticated Izakaya Experience”
We all have our "goto" spots. Places we want to keep secret from outsiders so we do not have to wait in line for a table if we just happen to drop by. With the end of my work assignment in Japan, I am revealing a few of those places. Here we have never been disappointed and able to get in with no re...servation even on the busiest of nights. If you are looking for a place with a bit more sophistication to impress on a date or a have a quiet business conversation, this is the place for you. The ambience is more refined than your run of the mill, noisy Izakaya. Cleverly, the smoking tables are upstairs to miinimize their effect on the downstairs non-smoking section. On the menu, you will still find a large selection of sake to pair with some excellent sashimi. A couple of other small dishes and your stomach will be pleasantly happy. A knowledge of Japanese would certainly be helpful for specials and non-standard menu items.
