“Best Italian in Tokyo”

This is the best Italian restaurant in Tokyo. Small and cozy with amazing service and exceptional food! Best for couples and client diner meetings. Also, the price is very reasonable compared to the other so called premium theme or hotel Italian restaurant (and their food is some much more delicious...!).

Inside an unknown building, a small (probably 700 sq ft space) of a few tables with table cloth greets you. Intimate and classy, the italian food here is refined. I love my Japanese beef grilled and marbled. Love the ravioli here too. The last time I came was probably 10 years ago, but I still love ...this.

“A real disappointment”

We did not know that this place is a "Michelin" rated restaurant. The lunch floor is a small scantly decorated room with two tables. Since we just wanted to have a simple lunch, looking at the set menu (from JPY 3,300 for pasta + appetizer) caugt us by surprise. We opted for a simgle pasta dish, whi...ch was per se JPY 2,000. They did not serve any water (which is usual in Japan) basically "forcing" us to take a mineral water bottle. The small one costed JPY 1,800 to which they added bread+table charge plus service & tax. In their defence it must be said that - perhaps sensing our disappointment - they filled in a dessert. Unfortunately I made the wrong choice of pasta and dessert as the waiter was poorly trained and not able to explain himself (I mean in Japanese!). My colleqgues had better dishes. Usually I newer complain about prices being high, but the taste was nothing extraordinary, just plain normal dishes. Probably the dinner menu is extraordinary, who knows. In any case I did not sense any professionalism or particularly refined taste. This "penny attitude" overcharcing water, bread and service it actually more disturbing than anything else. I've been in enough expensive and exclusive places and know the difference. Maybe wrong day, wrong choice, but I certainly won't give them another chance.

“Excellent Italian”

The former chef at Vina Hirata opened his own restaurant some years ago and he has hit his stride. The food is beyond good. I've been eating his food for years and it was always good but last night's dinner was out of this world. He understands the nuances of taste and controls the portions that ...you want to come back for more. Nothing too much. Nothing too strong. Just perfectly balanced cuisine. Had Abalone, then stuffed Zucchini flower, followed by Iwashi and finished with an incredible fresh uni risotto that I'm embarrassed to say was HEAVEN but tasted like the gourmet version of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese from my childhood...which is a very nice memory and a nice way to end the meal. Get a seat in front of the kitchen so you can watch Suzuki-san at work.
