“Always Predictable”
Royal Host reminds me of the US chain of Shoney’s. Booths and tables along a big window, cakes and items for sale, breakfast items anytime and a “drink bar”. Someone decided to recreate a Japanese version of the US original. And they do a pretty decent job. Pancakes, eggs, bacon and the like along w...ith more traditional Japanese fish, rice and soup. I’ve been to several and this one was smaller than others but just as good.

“Delicious dinner”
There was something bright and appealing about this branch of the chain restaurant. The dining room was cheerful and pleasant. We were thoroughly pleased by our menu choices, pork with grated daikon/sirloin steak on rice pilaf. They were both tasty and good value for money. We were also quite surpri...sed by the decent quality and good price of the restaurant's house wine. Service was most obliging.

“Nice breakfast”
During our recent trip my husband and I ate at this restaurant twice for breakfast. It was very close to our hotel and offered decent food at a reasonable price. The staff is very pleasant and the servers we had both spoke a little English, which was not really a necessity as the menu was straight...forward and in English. The food was served quickly and relatively tasty. Both times we had the Japanese breakfast (salmon, rice, salad, miso soup, an egg, pickles and a coffee) for about 10 usd. It left us pleasantly full, but not so much so that we couldn’t walk around Tokyo all day. The salmon and the pickles were especially good, however the coffee was a bit bitter for my taste. Also the fried egg was a little too runny on the first day, so we asked for scrambled eggs on our second try. The staff was accommodating to the substitution and the scrambled egg had a better taste and texture. A note about other reviews that said they had trouble contacting staff... On every table here is a “sumimasen” (translates as “excuse me”) button. You can press it if you need attention from a server, and is quite common in Japanese restaurants. We never had to use it at this Royal Host, however it may make a visit more comfortable. I recommend the Royal Host if you’re staying nearby and want a decent breakfast at a third of the cost of your hotels’ terrible breakfast buffet.

“Good breakfast”
Very close to Shinagawa station, this hotel offers quality breakfast, with a good black tea/black coffee. Try the combo with toast and scrambled eggs.
