I might have missed noticing Carne Bar Katete if it hadn't been for the line on the street going into a narrow doorway. I was looking for a good place to eat in an unfamiliar neighborhood. The menu looked good and the prices were also good enough to wait for a bit. The line went down the steep stair...way to the restaurant, but the wait was short. I was seated at the long counter in front the kitchen; there are also tables for two or four, and a very large table. The waitstaff quickly and efficiently keep up with the constant influx of people. Coleslaw was delivered right after I ordered the outside skirt steak. Then the skirt steak soon came on a plate with a marinated tomato slice that tasted like it came out of my father's garden, a Japanese radish salad, and a slice of sweet grilled onion. The generous portion of steak was on the rare side and it was delicious. The set also came with a plate of rice. With all this for 980 yen and a pitcher of water within reach on the counter, I was a very satisfied diner. When I left around 1, people were still lined up to come in all the way up the stairs to outside.
