“Tempura Unlike Any Other”
Worth booking far in advance - wonderful dining experience. The white asparagus tempura - wow Their special sweet potato - order it! Ever course was a mouthful of delight. Kondo is respected around the world - His restaurant is bucket list experience. Sashimi and traditional end of meal rice is fab...ulous too!

“Very average”
For a two Michelin star restaurant that specialises in tempura, our experience was very average. The team were reserved and uncommunicative, the food was boring and certainly no better than any of a hundred other average Tokyo tempura establishments. Why bother!

“Incredible tempura restaurant, just be ready for a LOT of food”
Wow, the food is incredible here - I've been to a few tempura specialty places in Tokyo and this one is the best. My one warning to you - it is a LOT of food, especially if you order their most premium package of courses. I might suggest doing one of the smaller ones - we didn't know how to judge th...e amount of food, so just ordered the one with the most courses and frankly left a lot of food uneaten, which is a shame given the amount of care and work they put into preparing the food.

“Greasy, Bland, Boring”
The first red flag was when I entered the elevator to Tempura Kondo. The restaurant is on the 9th floor, and I could smell the grease as soon as the elevator doors opened on the ground floor. It only got worse once I was in the restaurant. The same batter is used for everything, and the only seasoni...ngs throughout the entire meal were salt, a slice of lemon, and a basic tempura dipping sauce. Every single item I was served dripped grease. It was the worst meal I had during 5 weeks of traveling in Japan, and by far the most expensive. It is incomprehensible that this place has 2 Michelin stars. When I got back to my hotel room after the meal I had to wash my blouse in the sink because it reeked of grease.

“Worth visiting!”
The price was on the higher side, but the tempura here was really great. I’d say it’s worthy of Michelin star! On top of that, the atmosphere inside the restaurant was fantastic. Totally worth the visit!
