“Food and service unworthy of a major hotel”
For a restaurant in a major international hotel, Kato’s is very disappointing. We ate there in prime time on a Saturday night and found the food and service both poor. Kaisegi (the small plate tasting menu) was not even on offer so we ordered some dishes off the main menu. The Kobe beef in ginger wa...s prepared and presented awfully, lacking flavor and just slopped on the plate. The rump steak was better.

“Superb dinner place”
Great multiple-meal cource. Good sake, both warm and cold. This hotel has a history, trading back to the old James Bond movie; "You only live twice", where several scenes were shot.

“Good Food + Reasonable Pricing (for Hotel)”
This is one of the better dining options at the New Otani. Has a very good Sushi /combo lunch set here for 3,500 Yen. Great presentation and food.

“Great Ambience”
Since I couldn’t go to my favorite eel place in Asakusa this time, I had my eel here. This restaurant has great ambience, great for business luncheon for sure as witnessed by business luncheon tables around me. As for the eel, it was pretty good but I enjoyed my Asakusa place better. Not as fancy... as this place but mine was strictly eel place. This place has steak and all.

“A good stop for lunch, especially if you have time”
Kato's is located on the Garden Court of the New Otani, on the lobby level. It is an ample restaurant with a full bar and serves both purposes. We stopped here for lunch after mass one Sunday. Service was pathetically slow, so it took us about 30 minutes to order. the drinks we ordered never arrive...d. In the meantime, we ordered lunch, which was delicious. Despite its status as a luxury, international hotel, many of the employees speak only Japanese, so we had a language gap during our entire visit. The place is lovely, the food is good, but service needs improvement.
