The Udon with sweet potato was heavenly. It had a slight smokey taste to it. I would go back again and recommend it to others.

We were staying in a Ryokan in "old town" Kawagoe and decided to go looking for a restaurant for dinner around 6.30pm. We found that not too much is open at this time in this area and had not thought to google search before we left our Ryokan, so we just walked along the street. We found this rest...aurant upstairs that was still open. We were greeted and offered a table that overlooked the street below. We were offered a menu in English and allowed a little time to decide. There was only one other couple in the restaurant at the time and they were nearly finished their meal. We decided on a local recipe of chicken and vegetables that is cooked in vinegar and offered as a set meal with soup and Japanese pickles. I also had a local white wine to try while waiting for our meal. Our meal came quickly and we noticed that the restaurant was closing as they took their signs inside. Our hostess told us to take our time and not to rush. The meal was quite light and very tasty. We finished our meal and hour hostess asked us if we were mother and daughter. As my daughter is fluent in Japanese she told her that she was surprised to see that I ate my pickles, of which my daughter advised that I really love pickles. We found the restaurant was neat and clean, the food was lovely and the staff friendly and helpful.
