I was a frequent visitor of Kojimaya for years. However, the last year, I noticed significantly less quality and on top of it staff attitude. First, the eel was not tender yet firm. It was firm like rubber. It was like buying griled eel from a cheap supper market. Furthermore, when I told the... worker ( young male ) about it when paying for it, his response was ' is that so...' I was stunned and did not have words. There are so many better eel places in Tokyo with a better attitude that I recommend avoiding this place. When I wrote a review in a Japanese site called Tabelog, the store called the company to have my negative review removed. Apparently, they can't honest criticism. In any event, eel is getting expensive so why waste your company at Kojimaya when you can go to other quality places. 小嶋屋には長年行ってましたがもう行きません。　　ウナギの質、従業員の態度、全て何年前の小嶋屋に比べて大分ひどいです。　　ゴム見たいなウナギを出して’すみません’の一言も無く’そうですか。。。。’だけでしたから。　　美味しいウナギ屋さんは沢山あるので僕は他に行きます。　　それに食べログに正直な所を書いたら小嶋屋に消されました。　　正直な意見も聞けないお店と思われます。　　僕はもう一切行きませんし他の人にも自分の経験を伝えたいのでここに日本語でも書きます。

My father in law introduce this place to me when I first visited Japan. Apparently it was one of the best in Saitama. He also brought me to another Unagi place which is good too but we usually go for Kojimaya. Once you reach the place you will see a nice traditional Japanese looking house. They have... a very big backyard. Once you enter you will smell the grilled unagi. This place is so lively. Everybody is so busy. I usually get unagi box, it's rice top with unagi and cokes with soup. My husband prefer to have grilled unagi and rice and you can add soup if you like as its not included. The Eel was so tender and juicy. Its not sweet just right amount of sweetness. Once you finish everything you will be so full. I will recommend this place to everyone and will visit again.
