“Hygiene is a problem in this restaurant”

Reviewed 09/Apr/2026

One of the chefs was clearly ill. At one point he wiped his nose with his fingers and then continued to prepare the food with his hands. No washing up. We locked eyes—he knew I had seen him do this, but it didn’t make a bit of difference. I was already having trouble with the food (it’s very bland)—...at this point I stopped eating. My husband gamely continued and later said that he liked only one of the dishes. This was one of the most expensive meals we had in Tokyo and the most disappointing.

“Great vegetarian meal in Roppongi”

My travel partners and I don't eat sushi, so finding restaurants that worked for us in Tokyo was challenging. I read about Sougou and figured given that it was vegetarian, it was a good option for us. It was also within walking distance of our hotel. My travel partners and I loved this meal. Each co...urse was interesting and different. The chef/owner is involved in delivering the food to you and explaining what it is and the restaurant in general, has a nice calming vibe. One of the desserts, clear water with fruits, was so outstanding, we're still talking about it. We also ended up back in Tokyo unexpectedly at the end of our trip and booked this place again because we had enjoyed it so much. The menu changes frequently, so we experienced different things than we had the first time. I didn't love all of the courses as much as I had the first time but overall, everything was tasty. I suggest booking the meal option with 9 courses and 2 desserts to ensure it is filling enough.

We were in Tokyo for a business meet when our Japanese colleague took us out for a vegetarian lunch. The place has a nice ambience, serves great Japanese vegetarian food. One of the best lunches I had in Tokyo.

“Japanese shojin….for everyone!”

An incredible set meal of exquisitely prepared vegan dishes. Contemporary, fresh and creative offered in Japanese Shojin style…That means that each individual dish is a sensual experience for the palate and the eyes. Owner/chef Daisuke-san comes table side to share the items in each dish. A wonder...ful experience.

“Don’t miss this hidden gem in Roppongi!”

What a wonderful and innovative restaurant! They use high-end ingredients to create a vegetarian meal modeled on traditional Japanese haute cuisine. Don’t miss this if you’re in Roppongi. My wife and I aren’t vegetarians or vegans but we loved this place!
