“Sushi meal out in Tokyo”
We used the Trip Advisor review to recommend a good restaurant near our hotel and this small sushi restaurant came up trumps!! Booking in advance was required but the process was very straightforward. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. The food was so amazing with an explanation for each cour...se - highly recommend!!

“Wonderful sushi.”
My wife and I were looking for a real sushi experience and this restaurant really delivered. It is small and intimate with eight seats around the kitchen area where you get a great view of the preparation work, and two larger tables. The two sushi chefs worked tirelessly to deliver the dishes and it... was all delicious. We went for the standard omakase menu and it was great. Chef explained what each one was as it was delivered and a guide was provided for a Chinese couple who could not speak English. The fish was a fresh as could be and the drinks very economically priced. The restaurant is in a little side street but well worth searching out for a great experience.

“Fantastic experience”
My wife and I came here for dinner, but more importantly for the Omakaze experience, and we were not disappointed. This is a small, intimate space, nicely appointed and very chill. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, providing great service. I asked the young man who was serving u...s to select the Sake to go with the meal, and he chose well. The meal itself was everything we had hoped. The fish was so fresh and delicate. although there were a few surprises - a braised tuna belly and whatever they did to the octopus was incredible, we had never had octopus like that. The textures, the flavours the variety of fish, really it was a magnificent meal, well timed, well presented and perfectly executed - we recall it fondly, it was one of the best experiences that we had in our month long trip to Japan that had many highlights. We highly recommend Shinjuku Makoto for the wonderful food, the service and the experience! Just an added note: I was unaware that in Tokyo, in order to reserve at high end restaurants, you actually select your menu and pay in advance. I have given my credit card to hold reservations, but never paid, but not to worry, it's a legitimate practice.

“Review of Shinjuku Makoto”
"I had the pleasure of dining at Shinjuku Makoto during my visit to Tokyo, and it was an unforgettable experience! The restaurant has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I ordered the famous sushi set, and the freshness of the fish was remarkable. The... sushi melted in my mouth, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. I also tried their tempura, which was crispy and light—just the way I like it. The location in Shinjuku made it very convenient, and I appreciated that the restaurant wasn’t too crowded, so I could enjoy a peaceful meal. The prices were a bit on the higher side, but the quality of the food definitely justified it. If you're looking for an authentic sushi experience in Tokyo, Shinjuku Makoto is a place you shouldn't miss!"
