“No signboard Italian restaurant, Michelin 1*”
Small intimate restaurant with only 8 counter seats. The dishes features plenty of Japanese ingredients. The pasta and risotto were very tasty. A little bit disappointed with the meat. We were served the pork and it was not as tender as I expected. Perhaps, I should have opted for the more expensive... lunch ¥13,500 where the beef is featured. Overall, it was a great lunch. I thought it was very thoughtful of the restaurant to offer another serve of pasta after the meat to those who hasn’t had enough. To note is that in lieu of service/tax, the restaurant charge a cover of ¥1,200 pp. I think it’s fair.

“Woodfired Beef”
We took a course including the signature Woodfired beef. Their appetizers, and pasta were pretty nice of course, but their (real) wagyu prepared in a woodfired oven just totally blew me away. The crust, the smoky flavor and the beautiful medium rare cooking was literally up to perfection..

“Elegant, innovative, but felt unwelcome”
The food itself met all my expectations and more. Tacubo takes italian cuisine and brings it to a new level. The meal itself fits well within the japanese construct of counter, omakase-style plating. The fresh home-made breads, the delicious chowder, delectable pastas, and grand finale of kagoshi...ma filet - all delivered. The only thing that made the experience less than great was a discernable feeling of discrimination and almost as if I was the brunt of some jokes between the chef and the staff. My suspicion was confirmed when I left and I could hear the restaurant erupt with laughter. Not sure what I did to warrant such ridicule, but can honestly say I've never experienced anything quite like it. Great food, but sad to say I don't think I will return.

“delicious and interesting meal!”
This restaurant is a hidden gem. Our friend was able to get a reservation through his hotel. The restaurant staff spoke limited english, but they wrote us out the set menu in english so we knew what we were eating. I had never heard of Japanese Italian before this meal, but it was amazing. It was on... the expensive side, but definitely worth it.

“Wonderful lunch”
I tried to book a reservation on Aria di Tacubo's website but couldn't understand it so I contacted them through a Facebook message. They kindly took my reservation and had prepared a handwritten menu in English for us. They were so nice to us from start to finish. While lunch isn't cheap, we though...t it was easily worth the cost.
