“Favorite meal of our trip!”
I cannot say enough good things about our tempura experience at Yokota. We sat at the counter and chef walked us through the best way to take every bite. The curry powder used with some of our dishes was revelatory! Such a delightful meal. We were the only tourists but they spoke a little English. I...f you know some basic Japanese food words, the chef notices and responds enthusiastically. Take cash and an empty stomach. We were amazed that we didn't smell like cooking oil after an hour and half of sitting at the counter! Not exactly cheap but not as expensive as many of the other highly rated tempura restaurants.

“Delicious expertise with effortless charm!”
There was something magic about our night - it was the combination of incredible high quality ingredients, the chef’s expertise and the perfect pace and friendly setting. I have never had tempura like that! It was our only meal in Tokyo where we were the only tourists and chef yakota was so swee...t and genuine. Run don’t walk - enjoy!

“authentic tempura at reasonable price”
If you want authentic tempura at reasonable price, this Tempura restaurant will be one of the best choices. Tempura is served as fast food, but real tempura is very expensive food. In a full-fledged restaurant you will need to pay more than 20,000 yen for the course meal. However, at this restaurant... you can order a course of tempura at 10,000 yen. The chef was very professional and cooked Tempura at the best condition while talking with customers. It was a wonderful place to eat authentic Tempura in a comfortable and calm atmosphere.

“Let me know if you fiind better tempura. Please.”
As I always say most restaurants in Japan are very good and only outliers need a review because they are either exceptional or not worthwhile. We had dinner there and I would highly recommend experiencing tempura at its best. For every single piece, the chef will tell you how to eat it: first part ...as it is, then with salt... I want to give you a severe warning: after a tempura dinner there, eating regular tempura might disappoint you. The chef himself is fantastic and is worth getting to know provided you speak a little of Japanese.

“Top of the Tempura Tree”
We were taken to this marvellous little restaurant by Japanese friends and what a superb choice it was. We ate the previous night at Ten Ichi in Ginza and while it is hard to differentiate between the two on balance I prefer Yokota and look forward to a return visit. The food is sublime...but of cou...rse you must like tempura. All seafood, with both fresh and salt water covered. A number of the fish types are native to Japan and other are specially selected for flavour. The whiting and scallop's were particularly excellent. There were clams, ocean prawns , whiting, baby snapper, anchovy's, scallops, eel, river fish, pipits, river prawns and a wide variety of vegetables. All cooked in a 50/50 corn and sesame oil mix. Very good tempura never leaves an oily taste...and Yogata was no exception. This is a very small restaurant and bookings are absolutely essential. This restaurant is highly recommended.
