“Omu Rice for the Gods”
An establishment that was started back in 1963, with an exquisite blend of Japanese and Western influences, anyone can find a dish that would suit their palate. They are well known for their omu rice dishes, and I struggled to find one specific dish to order, but as we were traveling as a group of f...our, I was fortunate not to have only tasted one, but there kinds, the Kuku cheese omu rice, the chicken onu rice with demi glace sauce, and the Kuku omu rice with burger and four cheese from Hokkaido, whereas I got the set including roast beef and chicken that came with a bowl of soup and also omu rice on the side. Their desserts are equally delectable, we got a kind of parfait and a buttermilk toast. I highly recommend coming here, and I see us coming here again before the end of this trip.

“Omurice”
Best Hamburg steak and omurice ever had. We liked the potato and bread. However the space in the restaurant is a little cramped, otherwise the ambiance is just perfect. Location is a little away from the subway station but is not difficult to find. Price is reasonable for Japan meal standards.

“Less is More Part 360 - Nifty Novel Nuances ‘n Nibbles”
Omurice (オムライス Omu-raisu) is an example of yoshoku (a Western-influenced style of Japanese cuisine) consisting of an omelette made with fried rice and usually topped with ketchup. Of course this is a pure Japanese concoction and not found anywhere in the west. And there lies the growing fascination ...with this dish - just as we were when looking for a place to lunch in Shibuya. This lower ground eatery is bright, cheery and deliberately cute. Red white checkered frilly curtains abound. After a short wait, we were seated in really tight timber booths. It’s not the most comfortable but we managed. The service standards in Japan are always high and Rakeru is certainly no exception - even though this is not deemed high-end but like an American style diner. The waitress was friendly, polite, helpful and very sweet. The best dish surprisingly was not the omurice (though it was good but overwhelmed with tomato ketchup!) but the very umami roast beef salad and the delectable French toast with fruits. This is a fun place to have lunch and the portions are more Western so sharing is possible.

“I loved it - such a cute place”
My absolut favourite place for omurice in Tokyo. I went to "Cosy" a few days before and it was horrible. We found this restaurant ("Rakeru") by chance and I gathered my courage to try omurice once again and I was absolutely amazed! The entrance was barely visible and the staircase was small and narr...ow (most of the time these are the best restaurants) the interior was cute. Reminded me of western fairytale (red riding hood style ?) The bread was super soft & delicious. The demi glace sauce was also good ! I loved my dish all in all - Vegetarian Option was available!

“Not simply an omurice.”
Rakeru offers delicious omurice rice that comes together with their trademark bun and also a salad and chicken/ beef steak at the side. And together as a whole it’s wonderful. A very satisfying meal.
