TOKYO MEAT Syabu Syabu HOUSE

Loved, loved, loved it here. It's small (12-person counter) but comfortable (good chairs, enough room around them) and pretty "legit" Tokyo experience. What's great is you can enjoy nice shabu shabu (pretty accessible food for those who have trouble dinning in Tokyo) in an authentic environment (n...ot a super touristy neighborhood and the crowd was a mix of locals and tourists) with fantastic beef and nice side dishes to go with it. Our menu included oxtail soup (very good), tongue shabu shabu (not a fan), a very nice beef dumpling, then the main shabu shabu (which I believe is sound the meat makes when it's simmering) of meat and vegetables. The waiter was great. The chef was friendly and communicative. They even came out of the restaurant and helped us get our Uber (the chef literally crossed the street and hopped over the central barrier to talk to the driver who'd stopped on the wrong side of the street). A must recommend for people staying in Shinjuku -- we were at the Hilton Tokyo which is maybe a 15m cab ride.

We really live this beef shabu and sukiyaki restaurant for its superb taste, meat quality, and service. The restaurant uses the top quality beef Tajima Kobe for the dishes and with the delicately cooking and presentation, all items in the whole set menu are really yummy and reflect Japan’s nature-f...lavor taste cuisine.

Tokyo Nikushabuya is a cozy restaurant with 12 counter seats that specializes in shabushabu. Owner chef is friendly, funny and can speak fluent Mandarin. The Christmas Omakase Dinner Set at JPY 22,000/person is delicious, colourful, and of high quality! While the wagyu shabushabu is truly amazing..., the QUEEN crab (female snow crab) was absolutely delectable and memorable!

Despite its setting likes a very noodle bar, a very casual restaurant, its beef was not ordinary. The store owner is very knowledgeable in beef. He told me how old when the cow was sent to the butcher and the beef differences between different kinds of beef and their origins. The menu is simple, e...ither sukiyaki or shubu-shubu. We used to eat a lot when we were in Kobe, at least 8 pieces of beef per person. The owner told me that because his beef is slightly thinker than normal and the fat is really even throughout a piece of beef, we would unable to eat that much and he was right. We could only had 4 pieces of beef and we were too full and unable to eat more. Besides the fat is evenly distributed, the beef was also tender and rich in flavours. The set menu also comes with cooked ox tongue, ox tail soup and beef curry rice. Those dishes were unexpectedly tasteful. The sukiyaki sauce was slightly salty and I think should be a little more sweeter. The sake variety is acceptable. It locates at the Korean town and seems not close to any train stations. The owner speaks fluent Chinese.

As recommended by a friend, we decided to give this Shabu Shabu/beef restaurant a chance for Christmas. Our hotel has issues making a reservation for us and our friend in Japan has to visit the restaurant in person and paying a cash deposit (50%) for Christmas dinner. That perhaps is the most anno...ying part of the dining experience and I later confirm that such deposit requirements only apply because of Christmas and many young Japanese are into being a "no show". The owner chef is very friendly and speaks some Mandarin. He was helpful and fun throughout dinner. Since it was Christmas and the price differentiation was not that big, we chose the most $$$ course. It was proven to be too much food (perhaps the restaurant should think about quality rather than quantity) but all the dishes were top quality, well presented and thought out. I will like the pictures speak for itself. The shabu shabu was not disappointing and I love eating with these fresh bean sprouts. All the beef featured are high quality for sure and I highly recommend this restaurant.
