Yakiniku Jambo Hanare

Jambo Hanare is a difficult place to get a reservation and I'm glad I managed to make one. The casual environment really allows you to focus on the main reason for eating there; the incredible beef! Our reservation at 9 pm was late enough that I arranged my meals that day to be a bit later so tha...t I can enjoy my experience at Jambo. It was worth the wait. We got the a la carte menu which was recommended by some reviewers as we get to choose the cuts we want. It was a good recommendation as we we able to have multiple orders of what we felt were the best cuts of the night. When we arrived, we were seated quickly at the counter. The menu was confusing at first but the staff quickly explained what were the recommended cuts of the day along with what were popular items on the menu. We followed their recommendations along with two orders of the nohrayaki. It was all good but the beef heart was really the star of the night for me. They were thick cut and yet you only cook them for 10 seconds on each side. The seasoning was just the right amount of salt and pepper and it was a flavor and texture explosion! The other highlight was the 100 gram filet. The staff cooked it for us perfectly! In general, the staff will cook the first few pieces and then you can cook the rest yourself by following their simple timing (eg. 10 sec each side). You can also ask them to cook it for you. They also have an excellent selection of sake and beer. I enjoy the no-frills, focus on the beef aspect of Jambo Hanare and I can see why they are highly rated by those that love Wagyu beef. I would eat there again!

Famous Wagyu Beef Yakiniku Restaurant in Tokyo. They have a counter with 6 seats on the ground floor, a private room at the back of the first floor, and two private rooms in the basement. We placed our order after consulting with the restaurant staff. In field roast, a large piece of meat is fold...ed in half and spread out on a griddle, using all of the griddle on one sheet to carefully and quickly sear the meat. It is then rolled up and thrown into a raw egg that has been unwrapped. The sweet sukiyaki sauce and the unrolled raw egg were perfectly cooked and melt-in-your-mouth. The tongue was seasoned with just the right amount of salt, and the flavor of the meat filled my mouth as I chewed it. Overall, the meat was of a very high quality, and even the fatty parts did not upset my stomach. It was a rare place where you can enjoy high quality yakiniku at a different corner.

We had the omakase. For a very reasonable price (8k yen) you receive a trip to A5 wagyu heaven - each course melty, juicy and flavourful, all delicious in their own way. Staff were warm and steadfast in waiting us. A must visit.

This has to be one of the top yakiniku (Korean style bbq) restaurants in Japan. The owner meticulously chooses the beef and is always studying to serve new types of dishes.
