Ate here last night with friends and honestly left pretty disappointed. Service was the biggest issue. Our waiter was rude, had zero spatial awareness, and repeatedly leaned over my body and drink for long stretches while talking. It was uncomfortable and unprofessional. We came for the full experie...nce but were seated on the floor while empty bar seats sat “reserved” the entire time. From the moment we sat down, everything felt rushed — they pushed a last-call food order immediately, gave us barely any time to decide, and seemed focused on turning the table as fast as possible. I ordered the wagyu steak (~¥80,000) and it was small, very fatty, and nowhere near worth the price. Overall the food felt average and massively overpriced for what it was. When my friend asked for a to-go box, they initially refused. After pushing back, they eventually agreed — but only after saying they would if we didn’t leave a bad review. That alone says a lot. With so many incredible food options around, I’m shocked this place is rated so highly. I wouldn’t return and wouldn’t recommend it if you have other choices.

We had high hopes for Teppan Baby after seeing the glowing reviews, but our visit was really disappointing. The food was bland and greasy, with little of the flavour or freshness you’d expect from a good teppanyaki spot. Portions were small for the price, and it felt like the menu was designed more ...for tourists than anyone looking for authentic Japanese food. The staff were friendly but seemed rushed, and the restaurant was very cramped and noisy, which made it difficult for families to enjoy a relaxed meal. We left feeling it was overpriced and overrated. For anyone travelling with children or looking for a more genuine teppanyaki experience, there are far better options around Shinjuku and even nearby Omoide Yokocho that offer better quality and atmosphere. Teppan Baby just didn’t live up to expectations. Avoid

We booked a reservation and got to the restaurant early but there was a queue outside so it took 15 minutes to get to the restaurant (in the end we pushed to the front so we didn't lose our reservation). The server told us we wouldn't have enough time to eat as we were late. I explained we'd been wa...iting in their queue. One server was lovely and explained the vegetarian options. About 90 seconds later another server came over and forced us to order. We didn't have a chance to look properly so basically agreed to what he suggested. We'd tried hiroshima style okonomiyaki the day before at a food market and it was great so we were looking forward to Teppan Baby. It came and it didn't taste of much. Not sure if it's because it was vegetarian. They gave us the bill while we were still eating. We were finished and paid with about 15 minutes to spare after taking our time eating so not sure why they were rushing us so much. I was expecting so much more from the reviews!

Excellent!!! This place is crazy 😍 The best dinner in Tokyo 🫶🏼 the staff and the quality of food is very very good!!!!!
