“Kyoto restaurant in Tokyo”
I went there for lunch to this popular Kyoto restaurant and lunch is only served on weekdays. I ordered yasaka which comes with fried/scrambled boiled omelette with dashi soup. This is very light taste, but very elegant taste, ¥1200, $11. They only accept cash. There are 8 counter seats and four... small rooms.

Highly recommend order their lunch set *Looks like omelette egg, as dinner will cost double. Taste excellent and can experience having meal in traditional Japanese restaurant.

“Lovely setting, lovely service”
It's hard to find bad food in Japan, so distinguishing between the various levels of "good" can be difficult. Yagenbori is very good, without being pretentious or over-the-top expensive. Beautiful presentation and tasty food in a Kyoto style. While it's pricey enough to be for special occasions r...ather than a neighborhood hangout, it's certainly approachable by Tokyo standards (approx. $90-100 for two people for dinner, with limited alcohol).

“Very friendly service; traditional multi course meal”
Yagenbori serves Kyoto-style multi course meals. The food is very good. The prices are high. The service is meticulous and friendly.
“Traditional multi-course seasonal menu”
Yagenbori serves a set, multi-course menu based on fresh seasonal ingredients, for reasonable prices (8000, 10000, or 12000 yen per diner -- not cheap but not stratospheric). The food is consistently very good and sometimes sublime. The restaurant is decorated with prints, napkins, and coasters by... the late Clifton Karhu.
