“You have to have the cheese with white miso”
We stumbled across this place after somehow failing to get into the area's best sushi places without a reservation, and it turned put very well. The katsuo, karaage and matcha cake dessert were excellent The sumiyaki and maguro had a chewiness that detracted from their otherwise fine flavour. But... it was the vegetable course that prompted this review. A healthy basket of steamed vegetables accompanied by three condiments - salt, red miso, and cheese with white miso. All three worked beautifully with the vegetables but the cheese miso was a delightful novelty and I think by itself reason enough to give this restaurant a try. The service was just as good as you'd expect in Japan and the bill was moderate - it would have been downright reasonable if we'd dropped the probably unnecessary sumiyaki and avoided stuffing ourselves. Two caveats - I'd opt for a private room (I saw customers at the counter smoking) and I'm not sure an English menu is available. I can speak a bit of Japanese but faced with a handwritten menu I needed help from my partner.
