MISOTETSUKAGIROI

y wife and I had read about this izakaya on a food blog. Since we were staying nearby, we thought we would try it on the way back to our hotel. When we ventured into Kagiroi, the bar only had 2 people sitting at it. They did not look busy. I asked in my best phrase book Japanese if we could have a... table for two. The server who "greeted" us then responded in limited English that they were closed. It was 7pm on a Wednesday night. I was stunned because I had read from the website that they closed at 23:00. So I replied, in English, "what time did you close?". Again, in broken English, the server replied "we are full". At this stage it was quite obvious they were just trying to get rid of us. Whilst I can understand that helping a couple of customers who speak no japanese would be more time consuming. We are very easy going and I think that I would've been able to get my message across about what we would like them to pick for us. Lying to us to get us out the place made me fell very unwelcome and more than a little insulted.
