“Intimate dining for a select and lucky few”
We had been hearing about the amazing tempura in Tokyo and had yet to be bowled over until we found Sakura. Located on the 7th floor of a nondescript building, you enter an intimate room with seating for 10 around a sushi-bar style counter. The chefs create a true work of art on a platter made up of... tempura fish and vegetables and Wagyu beef. The tempura is light and not greasy at all. Reservations are a must as they turned away several wishful thinkers while we ate. Dining is limited to one hour which is plenty of time. English is spoken. The only negative to this experience was in finding the place. It is part of the pedestrian walkway in the heart of Asakusa, but on a side street and the name of the restaurant is not immediately clear.

“An excellent entirely gluten free GF Japanese tempura experience”
This entirely gluten free GF restaurant offers fresh, clean, and tasty food by a nice team of cooks, who fry the food right in front of you. It is very hard to find fried GF food in Japan, and here you get an excellent experience, on par with fried food in gluten unfriendly places (I ate both types,... and celiacs get here an accurate Japanese food experience). They offer an entire experience, not just the food. With nice jazz music, cherry blossom decorations, and a variety of sensations when eating). Try the ginger drink, if you like a strong refreshing healthy drink. The Cons: 1. Hard to find location, on the 7th floor via a tiny elevator (see attached picture of the building’s street view). 2. They only have 10 bar seats, so you should make a reservation (we were lucky to get seats without a reservation). 3. They fry the food right in front of you, so you come out smelling of the food (as in many restaurants).

“Tokyo gluten free tempura”
A truly top-notch restaurant, both for quality and service. The staff is truly kind and welcoming. The food is excellent, and the gluten-free tempura is delicious. Highly recommended.

“Wonderful dinner in Tokyo”
We loved our dinner at Tempura Sakura, it was one of the best moments of our trip to Japan. The food was delicious, the waygu beef melted as we ate it, and the chefs were friendly and smiling with guests. The restaurant is very intimate, just 10 people on the counter, food was prepared in front of u...s. It was a great experience and it made our trip even more special!

“Overpriced low quality food”
Overpriced low quality tempura. Place has no ventilation and an uncomfortable temperature. All of our clothes smelled like fried food and had to have them laundered when we got back to the hotel. In my opinion, I would not waste your time or money.
