Dogenzaka Isari

Tucked away in a side street not far from the Shibuya crossing is this little restaurant serving delicious food. You are shown a series of photographs of the food each with a set price - helpful if you don't speak Japanese. A slight delay waiting for food as, what I assume to be regulars arrived and... were given priority. Sat in front of the open kitchen and watched the silent chefs work with great respect and precision. Eventually the food arrived in plentiful quantity all very fresh and delicious - an assortment of miso soup, rice and raw fish.

first trip in Tokyo but used to look for best Japanese cuisine and sushi around Milan, New York, LA, ... We got a reservation for the best ranked sushi in Shibuya on Tripadvisor but we couldn't find it so we crawl around and step into Isari. The signboard "Japanese Seafood" looked too western but we... decide to try it. Inside is the most typical izakaya you can find, no english menu but you don't need it. Make a random choice since everything is unbelievable and prices are more than fair! We got 3 mixed sashimi the first time and chirashi, sushi and grilled fish heads the second time. Just go!
