Chukasoba Hirai

I had such great Tsukemen here in 2024, I decided to come back again in 2025. Sadly, I didn't realize that they only serve traditional ramen on Fridays. I sensed something was wrong when there was no line backed up in front of the restaurant. I travelled all this way to get Tsukemen and then was dis...appointed. 😒 It was not a total loss however. The traditional ramen was really excellent and I was able to get a seat right away! So once I adjusted my expectations, I was able to have a great meal. The pork was really good. If I get the chance again, though, I will be coming back on a non-Friday, so that I can get their famous Tsukemen again.

This is a very popular Ramen shop for Tsukemen in the greater Tokyo area. I tried to get here early enough to be in the first set of customers, but, alas, I wasn't early enough (~10:30am). So I ended up waiting in the hot sun for about an hour, but it was worth it. 😋 I had an umbrella and they kindl...y served water to the people while they were waiting in line (I suggest bringing your own fluids if you come here in the summer though). I really loved the Tsukemen. I have eaten at Tomita Ramen a couple of times and I like the pork here at Chukasoba better. The sauce was also really tasty and not too thick. I didn't order any extras and found the basic set to be quite filling. Come for the pork and the sauce and you will be very satisfied. If you love Ramen, and Tsukemen in particular, you won't be disappointed at Chukasoba, but be prepared for a line and bring your patience and an empty stomach!
